Science Fun Across the School! 🔬✨

This week, 5th Class invited students from across the school to attend in preparation for their big Science Blast next Monday in the RDS! They’ve been working so hard on their projects, and everyone had a fantastic time exploring and learning. Feedback from our visiting classes: Senior Infants Willow were absolutely blown away by the experiments they saw, they felt truly inspired! 1st Class Chestnut loved visiting 5th Class and had a wonderful time learning new science facts. 3rd Class Ash enjoyed discovering creative experiments during Larch’s Science Presentation and asked lots of curious questions. 6th Class Cedar were very impressed by all the science projects on display. 6th Class Laurel loved learning about flight, photosynthesis, and more from 5th Class. A huge thank you to 5th Class for hosting such inspiring sessions, and good luck with the Science Blast next Monday — we can’t wait to see all your amazing projects in the RDS! 🌱🧪🌼🍃✈️🌿🌟🔬

Irish Dancing Workshops 💚🕺

Children recently enjoyed fantastic Irish dancing workshops, they had great fun learning new steps, practising their rhythm and building their confidence through movement. There was plenty of energy, smiles and toe-tapping throughout the sessions! A huge thank you to Irish Dancing teacher Niamh O’Donnell, for sharing her talent, enthusiasm and love of Irish dance with us. We are so grateful for such an enjoyable experience! Click on the photos above ⬆️ to see our fantastic dance steps in action! 💃🕺
Celebrating our talents and differences 🌟 3rd Class Church Assembly

3rd Class Assembly focused on the Parable of the Talents, highlighting the importance of celebrating our individual gifts and differences. The children reflected on their own talents, shared prayers and poems, sang songs and a small group performed a drama based on the parable. It was a lovely opportunity for them to express themselves and appreciate one another’s strengths. The children were a credit to themselves and to their teachers, Ms Barkley and Mr Cullen, and their hard work in preparations was clearly evident.
3rd Class Take Maths Outdoors! 🌿📏

3rd Class Ash and Oak took their learning outside to explore length in maths! Armed with metre-long measuring tapes, the students measured all sorts of objects around our garden area.
They did a fantastic job applying their measuring skills in the real world, showing curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of enthusiasm along the way.
Well done, 3rd Class – maths has never been so much fun! 👏
3rd Ash had a blast during Science Week!

We created out-of-this-world space art with chalk pastels, learned all about rockets in English, and discovered that sound can’t travel through space, so they made string telephones to explore how sound moves through different materials.
A Busy September for 3rd Class Ash

September has been a busy month for 3rd Class Ash! The class have been loving their Friday GAA sessions with Tommy, which have included football, relays and even a tug-of-war competition. It’s definitely the highlight of our week – thank you Tommy! In science, we created ‘water cycles in a bag’ and observed water droplets forming. We’ve also been working on procedural writing, with some children trying out an apple and cinnamon muffin recipe at home from our English book. A brilliant first month back!
3rd Ash Ignites Creative Colour

3rd Class Ash created beautiful sunset paintings and also explored the concept of positive and negative space through artwork that plays with shape and contrast. Well done 3rd Class!
2nd Class Fun Run!
Recycling Robots and Rockets

2nd Class Ash celebrated the PTA initiative of focusing on recycling by bringing in lots of recyclable materials and creating their own robots and rockets out of them. Some examples are in the pictures! It took patience, care, planning, and creativity and was a lot of fun for the class!
Painting on the Ceiling

2nd Class Ash have been learning about Italy recently. As part of this, we learned about Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel, taking a virtual tour around the chapel and enjoying the incredible paintings. The class were particularly fascinated by the paintings on the ceiling. Thanks Ms. Wood for an amazing art idea and the class got to try. We stuck paper to the underside of the table and the class had to try painting while lying on the floor! A new challenge for them that brought great laughter and joy! We plan to stick our finished work to our classroom ceiling for a Michelangelo inspired mosaic!
Making data fun!

First class Ash were really enjoying learning about data and creating bar charts, especially when there were skittles involved!

Amazing Work

Junior Infants Ash have been very busy this month 🍎 Our theme in Aistear was transport. We got to work at the train station 🚂 It was great fun! We also created some amazing art work. We made beautiful butterflies based on the story ‘The Hungry Catterpillar’, print tulips using forks and we made hot air balloons. Take a look at our amazing work 📷
