STEM Workshops in Action! 🤖🔧
Our STEM workshops this week were full of excitement, creativity, and hands-on learning! Pupils from Senior Infants to 3rd Class explored, experimented, and solved problems in a fun, interactive environment led by the Clever Cogs team. They had a fantastic time programming cars, building marble-powered machines, and exploring STEM toys, all while developing hands-on skills and verbal reasoning. It was an amazing engineering experience, and everyone had a blast discovering the world of robots, machines, and creative problem-solving!
3rd Oak in Action!🎨🔬💃
3rd Oak have been busy with a variety of exciting activities! To celebrate St. Brigid’s Day, the children made beautiful crosses using real reeds. In science, they explored digestion with a hands-on experiment showing how food is broken down in the stomach. They also had a lively Irish dancing lesson with Niamh O’Donnell, and loved learning traditional steps with energy and enthusiasm. It has been a fun and creative week full of learning, movement, and imagination!
Irish Dancing Workshops 💚🕺
Children recently enjoyed fantastic Irish dancing workshops, they had great fun learning new steps, practising their rhythm and building their confidence through movement. There was plenty of energy, smiles and toe-tapping throughout the sessions! A huge thank you to Irish Dancing teacher Niamh O’Donnell, for sharing her talent, enthusiasm and love of Irish dance with us. We are so grateful for such an enjoyable experience! Celebrating our talents and differences 🌟 3rd Class Church Assembly
3rd Class Assembly focused on the Parable of the Talents, highlighting the importance of celebrating our individual gifts and differences. The children reflected on their own talents, shared prayers and poems, sang songs and a small group performed a drama based on the parable. It was a lovely opportunity for them to express themselves and appreciate one another’s strengths. The children were a credit to themselves and to their teachers, Ms Barkley and Mr Cullen, and their hard work in preparations was clearly evident.
3rd Class Take Maths Outdoors! 🌿📏
3rd Class Ash and Oak took their learning outside to explore length in maths! Armed with metre-long measuring tapes, the students measured all sorts of objects around our garden area.
They did a fantastic job applying their measuring skills in the real world, showing curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of enthusiasm along the way.
Well done, 3rd Class – maths has never been so much fun! 👏
Sound Waves, Odd Socks, and Kindness in Action! 🔊🧦
3rd Class Oak explored sound with cup-and-string telephones and made anti-bullying posters to celebrate diversity.
3rd Oak: Myths, Warriors, and More!
We’ve launched into a fascinating new project all about Ancient Greece. The children have become young historians—researching everything from Greek warriors and their armour, to the clothing styles of the time, daily life, and even the religious beliefs of the Ancient Greeks. There’s been great curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of amazing facts uncovered so far. We can’t wait to see where their learning takes them next!
Halloween Fun Meets Maths Week!
3rd Oak have been bursting with creativity this week!Our classroom has been full of spooky fun as we got hands-on with clay monster creations—just in time for Halloween! With wild imaginations and messy fingers, each monster came to life with its own unique personality. To celebrate both Maths Week and Halloween, we also explored Pumpkin Symmetry Art—combining maths and creativity to design perfectly balanced (and delightfully eerie!) pumpkin faces. During the final week before the Easter holidays, 3rd Class Beech and Pine took part in an Easter egg hunt and an orienteering challenge. They worked together to collect letters, crack a secret code and solve riddles – fun and teamwork all round.
3rd Class Oak Building Skills and Team Spirit: GAA Sessions with Tommy!
Great to see Tommy back kicking off the new school year with his fantastic GAA sessions! He is such an important part of our school community, and the children absolutely love learning from him. There is always great energy and excitement when Tommy’s on the pitch!
A Fantastic Week in 3rd Class Oak!
The children in 3rd Oak had a fantastic week full of creativity, curiosity, and learning! In History, they enjoyed diving into the fascinating world of the Stone Age exploring how people lived, hunted, and created tools thousands of years ago. For English, the children worked hard writing about their summer holidays, using descriptive language to bring their experiences to life. In Maths, the class focused on revision, brushing up on key skills and building confidence for the term ahead. Meanwhile, in Science and Geography, they had some brilliant discussions all about Space—sharing ideas, asking questions, and making connections across the subjects. The children also created some stunning Art, showing the sun rising—a beautiful end to a busy few day!

Assembly Preparations
This week 2nd Class Oak have been preparing for their class assembly ‘The Lost Sheep’. The children have worked really hard on their play and songs even trying their hands at some sign language.
Creating Lanterns: 2nd Class Oak
2nd Class Oak have been creating lanterns in Art. With the class assembly coming up we have been looking at how god and our family guide us. Our lantern connects to our assembly song of ‘This Little Light of Mine’. Well done 2nd class Oak.
