4th Class held a fashion show today kindly organised by Ms Anderson!

A Journey into the Ancient World 🏺📜

Brad Anderson came into both 4th classes to talk to them about Ancient Egypt, hieroglyphics, and even taught them some Greek! To bring their learning to life, they each made a scroll, making the experience both creative and memorable.

Digital Wellbeing in Action 📱💡

4th and 5th classes enjoyed a talk from St. David’s 5th Year Prefects on the importance of setting personal and school boundaries around mobile phone use. The students highlighted the benefits for mental health and wellbeing when phones are used less in and out of school, giving pupils plenty of food for thought. It was an engaging and valuable session for all involved.

Sweet Success for a Great Cause 🍰🎉

4th Class had a fantastic time at the Bake Sale for Children’s Health Ireland, showing off their baking skills and raising an amazing €681.70!  👏💛  

Seachtain na Gaeilge 🍀

We had a fantastic week celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge! Ciorcail Comhrá took place throughout the school, with lots of fun, laughter, and great Irish being spoken. Pupils enjoyed working together, building confidence, and using the language in a natural way. A big thank you to everyone who took part – go raibh maith agaibh!💚        

Exploring the “World of Gases” – A Science Show to Remember!💨

4th, 5th, and 6th classes were treated to an incredible Science Show, “World of Gases”. Kieran from BOC (A Linde Company) demonstrated contraction, expansion, changes of state of gases, and the fire triangle, including a thrilling liquid nitrogen experiment at -196°C. It was both entertaining and educational, sparking curiosity and imagination among our budding chemists and engineers!            

A Wonderful Day for 4th Class 📚

4th Class had a fantastic day filled with fun and celebration. The children enjoyed an outdoor picnic with crisp sandwiches and hot chocolate, kindly provided by Roman and Claire. They also put their knowledge to the test in a lively World Book Day table quiz. The day ended on a delicious note with pizzas, generously organised by Ms. Anderson to thank the children for all their hard work in the garden.

Spring Gardening in Full Bloom 🌱🌸

4th Class and Ms. Anderson were very busy in the garden today preparing it for Spring! Turning the compost, planting seeds, getting the boat ready for planting a rose garden. We cleared the polytunnel for planting, mulched the vegetable garden and created filtration systems for the newly planted seeds! Well done Ms. Anderson!

4th Class: Engineering in Action 🔧

4th Classes have been busy putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test for Engineers Week. They designed and built impressive marble runs using Lego, carefully planning routes and testing how to keep their marbles moving smoothly. They explored renewable energy by constructing wind turbines, learning how design changes can improve efficiency. Both classes also took on the challenge of designing thrilling roller coasters, thinking about speed, gravity and safety. To top it all off, they created earthquake-resistant buildings, experimenting with structures that could withstand shaking and movement. A fantastic display of teamwork, innovation and hands-on learning from our budding engineers!

Exploring China in 4th Class 🌏

4th Class Pine started off the week by looking at China in SESE. The students have been exploring the national symbols of China, its ancient history, and its fascinating wildlife 🏯📜🐾 They finished the week with some Chinese-inspired drawings, based on an animal that is very sacred in Chinese culture — the panda! A great start to a very interesting topic! 

Exploring the Deep Sea with the Marine Institute 🐙

A huge thank you to Mona McCrea from the Marine Institute for visiting both 4th classes and sharing the Explorers Programme: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The children discovered the weird and wonderful creatures of the deep sea, explored different ocean zones, and carried out experiments from creating light circuits to making oobleck to see how creatures adapt to their environments.

Afterwards, the children got creative and made their own projects to present to Mona on her return. A truly inspiring and interactive learning experience! 🌊✨

Peace & Unity 🕊️

4th Class delivered a beautiful Assembly celebrating peace and unity. Through drama, prayer, song and readings in six languages, they honoured people of peace like Mary Robinson and Nelson Mandela. A truly moving performance, well done to all involved! 🌍✨

4th Class explored plant propagation during Science Week. A huge thank you to Ms. Anderson for her help and guidance!

Hands-On Learning and Halloween Fun in 4th Class Pine!

4th Class Pine have been busy with a variety of engaging activities. We explored shape and space by working in pairs to design creative 2D patterns and images. A highlight was teaming up with 1st Class for a fun maths scavenger hunt, where we enjoyed sharing our knowledge and being positive role models. To top it all off, we got creative with clay, using different tools and techniques to sculpt spooky Halloween figures. A fantastic mix of learning and fun!

4th Class Pine: Learning the World through SESE and Art

4th Class Pine have been busy these last few weeks in the areas of SESE and Art. Students have been learning about their local community and what makes it an attractive area to live. In pairs they created colourful and detailed posters to display and to encourage the people of Greystones to take pride in their locality. In Science, students have been learning about photosynthesis and the factors that help plants growth. Ms Anderson assisted with some hands-on activities in the garden which the students had great enjoyment with. A very exciting first few weeks!

Brilliant Blooming: 4th Class in the Garden!

Both 4th classes have been busy tidying the garden for winter, planting bulbs and seeds and planting a wild flower meadow. While also learning about photosynthesis! Thank you to Ms. Anderson for all her help!

4th Class Busy in the Garden! 🌱

4th Class have been hard at work in the school garden, and just look at the wonderful produce they’ve helped grow! The garden is thriving thanks to the care and attention from the children and Ms. Anderson. We are incredibly lucky to have this garden as part of our school. It serves as a living, breathing outdoor classroom, where children can learn hands-on about nature, the environment, and the world around them. A big well done to Ms. Anderson and all the children for their amazing efforts!

Gardening Sessions

3rd Class Beech and Pine have been enjoying sunny gardening sessions, guided by Ms. Anderson. The children have put in fantastic effort, and we’re so fortunate to have such a wonderful outdoor space!

Adorable Lambs!

St. Patrick’s had a lovely surprise in the week leading up to Easter, a visit from two adorable lambs! A big thank you to the Johnston family for bringing them in and giving everyone the chance to meet and interact with them!

3rd Class: Turning recycled magazines into St. Brigid’s crosses!

3rd Class Beech & Pine had a great time making St. Brigid’s crosses with Ms. Anderson, using recycled magazines instead of rushes. The craft was a fun way to mark St. Brigid’s Day during Recycling week. Well done 3rd Class and a huge thank you to Ms. Anderson!  

CNY: 3rd Class Pine

3rd Class Pine really enjoyed learning a new skill in celebration of Chinese New Year! We learned how to finger knit a snake for the Year of the Snake! Everyone showed great patience and perseverance!

Getting Active!

2nd Class Pine have been having lots of fun each Tuesday with Tommy. He has kindly been giving GAA lessons to the classes in St. Patrick’s. 2nd Class had a blast in this Tug of War warm-up. A huge thank you to Tommy!
