Discovering Shapes: Senior Infants Chestnut

Senior Infants Chestnut enjoyed learning about the element of shape and combining it with nature and spring. We used a Maths Eyes concept to discover shapes we could observe in our school garden, this was followed by creating a landscape picture with 2d shapes. We discussed the visible shapes in The Jungle Sunset by Henri Rousseau and created our own masterpieces too.

Today, 5th class Laurel completed their passion project presentations. The children had the fantastic opportunity to showcase their hard work and creativity to the other 5th class Cedar. Each pair/individual proudly presented their projects, explaining their ideas and what they learned along the way. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and confidence as they shared their work, answered questions, and celebrated each other’s efforts. Events like these help build a strong sense of community in our school, encouraging teamwork, curiosity, and a love for learning! We are very proud of their hard work. Ms Gyo”
Golden Book Nominations

Engaging in lessons, being extremely positive and enthusiastic about school work, supporting friends and tidying up without being asked are some of the reasons why this group of wonderful children were entered into the Golden Book! The kindness shown by one child in Senior Infants to her friends was evident on Valentine’s Day when she realised that some of her friends had no money for the 6th class bake sale. She had €5 so she kindly offered to purchase a treat for not just 1, not 2 but for 3 of her friends. Well done to her, what a fantastic friend to have!

After their presentation, we broke up into smaller groups, discussed any questions students had and everyone worked together on themed posters.
