3rd Class Church Assembly

3rd Class held their Church Assembly on Wednesday 29th January! The children were so well prepared and the fantastic music and talent were the topic of conversation after. Well done to Ms. Van Rooy and Ms. Barkley and all the children of 3rd Class Pine and Beech

CNY Celebrations: Senior Infants Chestnut

Senior Infants enjoyed learning all about the Chinese New Year. They performed a special Chinese New Year snake dance followed by a snake art activity to celebrate. Lovely work Senior Infants.

CNY: Junior Infants Willow

Junior Infants Willow had a wonderful time learning about Chinese New Year. They enjoyed making snakes with their 6th Class buddies, and everyone had lots of fun working together!

CNY: Junior Infants Birch

Junior Infants Birch had a lovely time learning about Chinese New Year. We talked about 2025 being the year of the snake and each made a part of the snake’s body. Thank you to our TY work experience student, Charlotte for helping us make our snake! We learnt about the ancient emperor who asked some animals to race across a river. We now understand how each year is named after one of these animals.   

CNY: Elder

Elder class celebrated Chinese New Year by learning about the year of the snake! We had lots of fun making slithering snakes, giving them googly eyes and tongues that hiss!

Senior Infants Maple with 5th Class Buddies!

Senior Infants paired up with their 5th Class buddies to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day by making traditional St. Brigid’s Crosses using paper. They loved working on this hands-on and fun activity together !

St. Brigid’s Day: Senior Infants Chestnut

To celebrate St. Brigid’s Day Senior Infants Chestnut discussed the story of St. Brigid’s Cloak, they worked with primary colours and multiple textures to create a beautiful classroom display. Fabulous work Senior Infants!

To celebrate Chinese New Year 1st Class Ivy created beautiful Chinese Lanterns.

CNY: 5th Class Laurel

In celebration of Chinese New Year 5th Class Laurel read the story about the “White Snake Lady”. The Legend of the White Snake, tells the story of a man, Xu Xian, who falls in love with a female snake, Bai Suzhen. The class really enjoyed reading about the snake lady and they then wrote about what they thought might happen next.

CNY: 3rd Class Pine

3rd Class Pine really enjoyed learning a new skill in celebration of Chinese New Year! We learned how to finger knit a snake for the Year of the Snake! Everyone showed great patience and perseverance!

CNY: 4th Class Elm

4th Class Elm acting out some scenes from the Legend of Lady White Snake. This month in History and Geography we have been learning all about China and making some fabulous books full of all of our research!

CNY: Senior Infants Maple

Senior Infants Maple had great fun celebrating Chinese New Year and learning about the Year of the Snake. We made paper plate snakes and even performed a Snake Dance as a whole class!

Painting on the Ceiling

2nd Class Ash have been learning about Italy recently. As part of this, we learned about Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel, taking a virtual tour around the chapel and enjoying the incredible paintings. The class were particularly fascinated by the paintings on the ceiling. Thanks Ms. Wood for an amazing art idea and the class got to try. We stuck paper to the underside of the table and the class had to try painting while lying on the floor! A new challenge for them that brought great laughter and joy! We plan to stick our finished work to our classroom ceiling for a Michelangelo inspired mosaic!

3rd Class PE

3rd Class Beech mastering balances and jumps in their gymnastics lessons!

4th Class: China Themed Art

In 4th Class, we’ve been learning all about China. We’ve been using computers to research modern China and the Ch’in and Han Dynasties to make our very own mini books full of exciting facts! We’ve also had fun doing China-themed art, such as kites, inspired by the traditional fish, bird and dragon designs used in China! 

WWII Project Presentations

6th class Hazel, concluded their 3 week WW2 project. Knowledge was shared through a serious of timelines and presentations and feedback. .

Poetry

6th class students are exploring Haiku poetry and poetic devices used in poetry and creating fun strategies to help remember them. One examples is Onomatopoeia- the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named.

Perspective Drawing

Perspective drawing provides students in 6th class with an opportunity to create art with a realistic impression of depth, ‘play with’ perspective to present dramatic images.

Comedy Show “Hacked” by Reuben Evans 3rd to 6th Class

Reuben Evans comedy show “Hacked” was such an engaging session for 3rd to 6th class. Huge thanks to Caroline & Alan Lewis for donating this workshop which saw the children learning how algorithms manipulate their emotions and keep them hooked to devices. We encourage continued discussion about this challenging subject.

New Year Celebrations

“This week, 3rd class made art inspired by fireworks to celebrate the New Year! They printed fireworks with card pieces and created watercolour towns. Well done 3rd Class!”
