Snake Jar Success!

Well done to Jack Sweeney, 5th Larch who won our Maths Week competition! Each child had the opportunity to guess how many snakes were in the jar!

5th Class Elm: Future Voters Shine!

Today 5th class Elm, Ms Gyo’s class took part in an engaging quiz based on the upcoming presidential election. It was a fun and interactive way for pupils to deepen their understanding of the election process and current affairs.

Senior Infants Willow: Maths in Action!

Senior Infants Willow had lots of fun exploring numbers and 2D shapes during Maths Week. They played games, counted objects, and sorted shapes by their sides and corners. Everyone enjoyed discovering how maths is all around us in a fun and creative way!

Hands-On Learning and Halloween Fun in 4th Class Pine!

4th Class Pine have been busy with a variety of engaging activities. We explored shape and space by working in pairs to design creative 2D patterns and images. A highlight was teaming up with 1st Class for a fun maths scavenger hunt, where we enjoyed sharing our knowledge and being positive role models. To top it all off, we got creative with clay, using different tools and techniques to sculpt spooky Halloween figures. A fantastic mix of learning and fun!

Exploring Autumn Wonders!

In Senior Infants Birch, we’ve been learning about autumn. We’ve been collecting items for the nature basket, and we got to plant daffodil bulbs with our buddies from 5th class! We had so much fun and look forward to our bulbs bloom in spring!

Creating Maths Magic!

6th Class Cedar developed their own maths games this week. They got their creative juices flowing and came up with fantastic ways to make the maths lessons extra enjoyable.

Potion Commotion!

This week in Juniper we got ready for Halloween by learning a recipe for an exploding potion. We then used toilet paper rolls and paint to create pictures of our bubbling cauldron!

Teaming Up for Maths!

5th class Elm-Ms Gyo’s class with their buddies from Senior Infants-Ms Glynn’s class took part in a Maths trail today as part of Maths week. We had lots of fun finding maths all around us and working out various maths questions with our buddies!

Autumn Animals and Friends!

Autumn is our theme in Junior Infants Hazel this month 🍂 We have been very busy learning all about the animals that hibernate during this season. We also learned lots of facts about bears around the world and during the week Junior Infants Hazel read the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen. After reading the story, we received a special letter which Ms Harper delivered to our class. The letter was from the bear in the story who invited us to go on our very own bear hunt on the school grounds. Our 6th class buddies kindly helped us to find the bears. Elm Minds in Action!

Maths Week: 5th class Elm took part in a Live Maths Week Quiz. The main aim of the quiz was for pupils to enjoy playful and engaging learning experiences, and see Maths as a fun and accessible subject for all. The focus wasn’t on the correct answer, but it encouraged pupils to share their individual thinking and strategies. We really enjoyed it!

3rd Oak: Myths, Warriors, and More!

We’ve launched into a fascinating new project all about Ancient Greece. The children have become young historians—researching everything from Greek warriors and their armour, to the clothing styles of the time, daily life, and even the religious beliefs of the Ancient Greeks. There’s been great curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of amazing facts uncovered so far. We can’t wait to see where their learning takes them next!

Halloween Fun Meets Maths Week!

3rd Oak have been bursting with creativity this week!Our classroom has been full of spooky fun as we got hands-on with clay monster creations—just in time for Halloween! With wild imaginations and messy fingers, each monster came to life with its own unique personality. To celebrate both Maths Week and Halloween, we also explored Pumpkin Symmetry Art—combining maths and creativity to design perfectly balanced (and delightfully eerie!) pumpkin faces. Maths in Motion: 5th Class Elm’s Musical Chairs Challenge

5th class Elm completed a “Musical Chairs” maths activity to kick off maths week. The children each selected an individual 2 digit number on their sheet and when the music stopped they had to go find a new maths sheet and complete the maths task on that person’s page related to their number.

Golden Book Celebration

This week, we are delighted to celebrate the children who have been added to the Golden Book for their outstanding contributions to school life. Our Golden Book stars were recognised for writing fantastic reports, showing an excellent attitude in class, giving everything their best effort, being kind and courteous and looking after their buddies in the younger classes. We are so proud of each and every one of them. Your hard work, kindness, and positive spirit make our school a better place every day. Congratulations to all our Golden Book recipients this week – keep shining! 🌟

3rd Class

During the final week before the Easter holidays, 3rd Class Beech and Pine took part in an Easter egg hunt and an orienteering challenge. They worked together to collect letters, crack a secret code and solve riddles – fun and teamwork all round.

A Busy September for 3rd Class Ash

September has been a busy month for 3rd Class Ash! The class have been loving their Friday GAA sessions with Tommy, which have included football, relays and even a tug-of-war competition. It’s definitely the highlight of our week – thank you Tommy! In science, we created ‘water cycles in a bag’ and observed water droplets forming. We’ve also been working on procedural writing, with some children trying out an apple and cinnamon muffin recipe at home from our English book. A brilliant first month back!

3rd Ash Ignites Creative Colour

3rd Class Ash created beautiful sunset paintings and also explored the concept of positive and negative space through artwork that plays with shape and contrast. Well done 3rd Class!

4th Class Pine: Learning the World through SESE and Art

4th Class Pine have been busy these last few weeks in the areas of SESE and Art. Students have been learning about their local community and what makes it an attractive area to live. In pairs they created colourful and detailed posters to display and to encourage the people of Greystones to take pride in their locality. In Science, students have been learning about photosynthesis and the factors that help plants growth. Ms Anderson assisted with some hands-on activities in the garden which the students had great enjoyment with. A very exciting first few weeks!

Brilliant Blooming: 4th Class in the Garden!

Both 4th classes have been busy tidying the garden for winter, planting bulbs and seeds and planting a wild flower meadow. While also learning about photosynthesis! Thank you to Ms. Anderson for all her help!

Class Buddies!

5th class Elm got to meet their new buddies for the year ahead , Ms Glynn’s Senior Infants. Having a buddy gives us a chance to be a leader, a friend and a positive influence to the younger children. It was very exciting!!!

5th Class Elm Celebrate the Harvest Season

5th Class Elm have been busy learning all about the Harvest and what it means, a special time to celebrate the gathering of crops and the hard work involved in growing our food. We had a very special contribution from Jamie, who brought in some delicious homegrown grapes and apples from his own garden to share with the class. Jamie even has his own polytunnel, which helps him grow fruit at home, a fantastic example of sustainability and care for the environment. As an extra treat, Jamie also made a homemade apple crumble, using his very own apples. The class loved tasting it, what a delicious way to celebrate the Harvest!

Big Adventures for Little Readers

Junior Infants Holly have been enjoying lots of stories but our favourite to date has been ‘Owl Babies.’ The children used pom poms on a peg to make their very own fluffy owls with paint. We’ve also been getting our heads stuck into some books in the new class library, enjoying the quiet and cosy area!

Identifying Emotions: A Key Skill for Children!

This week in Juniper we have been reading ‘The Colour Monster’ and learning how to identify emotions. We then painted our own colour monsters, and worked together on a giant monster for our wall.

A Colourful Start for Senior Infants Willow – Creativity, Courage & New Friendships!

Senior Infants Willow have settled in brilliantly and are already off to a creative and exciting start! We explored the colourful world of artist Henri Matisse and his idea of ‘drawing with scissors’, learning that creativity takes courage! To celebrate International Dot Day on September 15th, we read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and discovered that sometimes all it takes is just one mark to begin a journey of creativity. There was also huge excitement when we met our 5th Class buddies for the first time this week! We’re all looking forward to a fun-filled year of friendship and shared adventures ahead.

Golden Book Celebration

6th Class Field Trip Fun!

Both 6th classes enjoyed a special treat this week, a trip to Greystones RFC to watch the Leinster Rugby team train. An unforgettable day filled with excitement, inspiration… and plenty of autographs!
