Young Voices Shine at Wicklow Sings 🎶✨

Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of watching our school choir perform in Temple Carrig as part of the Wicklow Sings festival. Experiences like this are so valuable for our children, not only creatively, but in building confidence, supporting wellbeing, and strengthening a sense of community. It was wonderful to see them step forward and perform with such enthusiasm. Wicklow Sings is a fantastic community event celebrating the diversity of singing across the county, from school choirs to local groups. This year marked its 10th anniversary. Hands-On Learning with Some Woolly Visitors 🐑☀️

We were delighted to welcome Alex Dobbs and her lambs to school, giving each class a wonderful opportunity to interact with them. The children were extremely gentle and respectful throughout, and it was a lovely way to bring learning to life in the school environment. Thank you to Alex for taking the time to share this memorable experience with the children.

New Resources, Bigger Thinking in Maths! 🧠➕

At St. Patrick’s NS, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils have access to high-quality resources to support their learning. Therefore, our Maths cupboard has recently been restocked and now contains a wide variety of new concrete materials to support the implementation of the new Maths curriculum. These resources will help to deepen children’s understanding, build confidence, and encourage active, problem-solving approaches to learning Maths in an engaging and meaningful way! 🔍🎲

A School Full of Stories 📚✨

From witches and wizards to superheroes, animals and beloved characters, today St. Patrick’s was bursting with imagination for World Book Day! Children across the school celebrated their love of reading through costumes, quizzes, buddy reading, art activities and sharing their favourite stories together. A wonderful reminder that books can take us anywhere!

Ukrainian Culture Day 2025

On Friday 13th June our Ukrainian families here in St. Patrick’s kindly organised a festival of culture, music, food and fun. As there are no longer flights to Ukraine they decided that the theme of the day was to fly St. Patrick’s NS to Ukraine for 2.5 hours. The sports hall was turned into an airport leading to many cultural experiences around the school including dance performances, drama, games, food etc. It was a wonderful opportunity for all of our students to learn about and appreciate the rich traditions of Ukraine, while celebrating friendship, diversity and inclusion in our school community. It was especially meaningful for our displaced families to feel welcomed and embraced by our community. A huge thank you to our Ukrainian families for your incredible efforts in making this day truly unforgettable, we are so thankful for the opportunity to learn from and celebrate with you.

Waves of Joy and Laughter!

Both 6th classes soaked up the sun and had fun playing volleyball, football, paddling, burying each other in sand, making bracelets, a tasty BBQ and so much more! Special thanks to the amazing parents who arranged this day out and for going above and beyond to give both 6th classes a day to remember.

‘Ours to Protect’

As part of the 6 month initiative caretaker Anto placed a special recorder in the garden yesterday June 4th and we are excited to hear what the environment provides over the next few months as the season change. It will remain there for the course of the programmes and we will access it periodically to download audio. The recorder will capture the sounds of the environment including insects, birds, bees and environmental noise. This data will then be used to identify the species and their daily routines living in Wicklow. This is very important information that will then be offered to research students studying climate change and biodiversity in Ireland.  Ours to Protect is a unique and exciting audio project – a collaboration of independent radio stations across Ireland, including East Coast FM, who have come together to highlight climate change, champion climate action, and inform and educate audiences all over Ireland about how they can make a difference. This year the voices and opinions of younger people is paramount to the project. You can find out more at eastcoast.fm or ourstoprotect.ie
