Junior Infants Willow: Seachtain na Gaelige
Junior Infants Willow wrapped up Seachtain na Gaeilge in a fun and creative way by making Irish flags with their 6th class buddies. The children worked together to design and decorate their flags while also learning about “na dathanna” (the colours) in Irish.
6th Class Hazel
In celebration of Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Fhéile Padraig, the 6th class students worked with their buddies to create the Irish flag. 6th class asked their buddies to name the 3 colours of the flag as gaelige and they did fabulously! They worked together to cut up the crepe paper and stick down the colours in the right place, cut out the flag and shamrock and attach a straw as the flag pole. When we finished we all got together for a whole class picture with our finished work! Well done everyone.

Signs of Spring!
Junior Infants have been eagerly looking out for signs of spring, and they were thrilled to make a fantastic discovery! We took a walk to our school pond and were excited to find some frog spawn. The children were delighted by the discovery and are now keeping a close eye on it. We’ll be monitoring the process over the next little while and will keep everyone updated on any changes as we watch the frog spawn grow and develop.
Exploring the World of Shapes!
Junior Infants Willow have been exploring the world of shapes! They have been learning about spatial awareness and 2D shapes. The children have enjoyed creating drawings to show objects near to them in their environment. They also had a great time constructing 2D shapes using lollipop sticks and created pictures using 2D shapes.

Junior Infants Willow had a wonderful time learning about Chinese New Year. They enjoyed making snakes with their 6th Class buddies, and everyone had lots of fun working together!
Christmas Cookie Decoration
Tis the season to be jolly!. There is not better way to prepare for Christmas that decorate Christmas cookies with your buddies. 6th class came together with their JI, Willow buddies to decorate christmas cookies with icing, marshmallows and sprinkles. The 6th class added to the festivities with some facepainting for their buddies.
Learning Through Art
‘Schools that integrate arts into their curriculum show improved student performance in maths, English, critical thinking and verbal skills’. Over the past fortnight, students have been displaying their learning through art, to visually communicate their understanding and depth of Key Learning Areas. Junior Infants have been displaying their knowledge of representing the number 3 through stories- The 3 Little. Pigs.
Soil investigators
6th class Willow were carrying out a full soil investigation this week testing sand, silt and clay samples onsite at the school!They found mini beasts, man made materials and even carried out a moisture test.
Brainstorming on coastal erosion
After learning that 20% of the Irish coastline is at risk of coastal erosion, 6th class Willow were determined to put their thinking caps on, and to come up with solutions what could limit the damage to Co. Wicklow beaches!
Engineers of the Future!
Students in 5th class recycled materials to construct amazing rockets, bridges and aeroplanes for Engineering Week last week.
