Story Time with Our Senior Infant Buddies! 📚✨

Today 5th Class Elm met their buddies in Senior Infants Willow and shared our special picture books we created. We read our stories to them and showed the illustrations we worked hard on. They were really impressed and gave us lovely feedback on our work.

Phonics Fun at the Zoo with SI Willow 🐘🦁

Senior Infants Willow had great fun creating zoo animals and using their phonics sounds to name them using the first initial of each animal. Ellie the Elephant, Leo the Lion, and more! A wonderful hands-on activity combining creativity, early literacy, and phonics learning through play.

STEM Workshops in Action! 🤖🔧

Our STEM workshops this week were full of excitement, creativity, and hands-on learning! Pupils from Senior Infants to 3rd Class explored, experimented, and solved problems in a fun, interactive environment led by the Clever Cogs team. They had a fantastic time programming cars, building marble-powered machines, and exploring STEM toys, all while developing hands-on skills and verbal reasoning. It was an amazing engineering experience, and everyone had a blast discovering the world of robots, machines, and creative problem-solving!

A Spring in the Step for Senior Infants Willow 🌸

Senior Infants Willow have a real spring in their step as they explore the season of Spring through a range of cross-curricular activities. The children have been learning about the changes that happen in spring through Art, SESE, and Gaeilge, enjoying creative and engaging lessons along the way. It has been wonderful to see their excitement as they discover the signs of spring all around them!

A School Full of Stories 📚✨

From witches and wizards to superheroes, animals and beloved characters, today St. Patrick’s was bursting with imagination for World Book Day! Children across the school celebrated their love of reading through costumes, quizzes, buddy reading, art activities and sharing their favourite stories together. A wonderful reminder that books can take us anywhere!    

Engineering Week: Solving Problems Through Design

Senior Infants Willow ended Engineering Week with an exploration of “What is the problem?” “How can we solve it?”. An assortment of materials were placed on the floor and the children selected any materials they wanted to engineer a solution to their problem. Bridges, transport and earthquake buildings were created. It was inspiring to watch the children experiment, redesign, and celebrate their creations. Engineering Week reminded us that with imagination, teamwork, and a few simple materials, young learners can become incredible problem solvers.

Science Fun Across the School! 🔬✨

This week, 5th Class invited students from across the school to attend in preparation for their big Science Blast next Monday in the RDS! They’ve been working so hard on their projects, and everyone had a fantastic time exploring and learning. Feedback from our visiting classes: Senior Infants Willow were absolutely blown away by the experiments they saw, they felt truly inspired! 1st Class Chestnut loved visiting 5th Class and had a wonderful time learning new science facts. 3rd Class Ash enjoyed discovering creative experiments during Larch’s Science Presentation and asked lots of curious questions. 6th Class Cedar were very impressed by all the science projects on display. 6th Class Laurel loved learning about flight, photosynthesis, and more from 5th Class. A huge thank you to 5th Class for hosting such inspiring sessions, and good luck with the Science Blast next Monday — we can’t wait to see all your amazing projects in the RDS! 🌱🧪🌼🍃✈️🌿🌟🔬  

Creative Garden Art Workshops 🌳🎨

Thanks to the generous funds raised at our Christmas Fair, students recently took part in a series of wonderful art workshops that combined creativity, nature and hands-on learning. During the workshops, the children learned all about tree planting, different types of plants and the importance of caring for our environment. They explored how plants grow, what they need to thrive and why trees are so important for wildlife and our planet. The highlight for many was creating magical garden fairies using natural items collected from the garden along with clay. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Fair — your generosity made these amazing experiences possible. The smiles, creativity and learning throughout the workshops were truly something special! 🎄🌱🧚‍♀️🍃

Senior Infants Willow are blasting off into space!

As part of our learning about space, we are combining STEM skills to explore, research, and build our very own space experiences. Using a variety of materials, the children are experimenting, problem-solving, and letting their imaginations soar as they discover the wonders of the universe.

5th Class Elm enjoyed a lovely buddy activity this week with their friends from Senior Infants Willow. The classes worked together on an art activity, creating colourful paper leaves. The 5th class students did a fantastic job helping their buddies with cutting and painting, showing great care, patience and teamwork throughout the session. It was wonderful to see the older students taking on a supportive role and the younger children gaining confidence in their creative skills. A very enjoyable and creative activity for both Elm and Willow classes! 🎨

Festive Fun with Buddy Time! 🎄🕯️

5th Class Elm and Senior Infants Willow had a wonderful time getting creative together during buddy time! They made decorative Christmas tree candle holders, using their imagination and festive spirit to design beautiful, unique creations.

Sweet Treats and Teamwork in 5th Class! 🍪✨

5th Class Elm had a delightful afternoon decorating cookies with their buddies from Senior Infants Willow! Using sprinkles, icing sugar, and lots of creativity, the students worked together to make their cookies look as delicious as they tasted.

It was a fun-filled activity that brought everyone together, giving the older and younger students a chance to share, collaborate, and enjoy their tasty creations. The smiles, laughter, and teamwork made it a truly memorable experience for all.

Well done to everyone for spreading joy (and sugar!) this festive season.

Egg-citing science! 🥚🪂

Senior Infants Willow and 5th Class Elm explored forces and materials, designing parachutes to keep their eggs safe, and learning that the best design is all about function, not flash!

Senior Infants Willow: Maths in Action!

Senior Infants Willow had lots of fun exploring numbers and 2D shapes during Maths Week. They played games, counted objects, and sorted shapes by their sides and corners. Everyone enjoyed discovering how maths is all around us in a fun and creative way!

Junior Infants Willow & Birch Visit the Church

Both Junior Infants Willow and Birch had a wonderful trip to the church last week. It was an exciting experience for the children as they had the chance to explore the church and learn about its important features. Canon Mungavin kindly guided us through the visit, showing us many fascinating aspects of the church. The children were full of curiosity and asked some very insightful questions, showing great interest in everything they saw.
